Epidemiological Statistical Analysis of EC in Taizhou Area, Jiangsu Province, China
Introduction: EC is one of the major malignant tumors in the world, and the Taizhou area in Jiangsu Province is a high-prevalence area of EC in China. Exploring the causes of EC in the Taizhou region is of great significance for developing effective prevention and control strategies. Objective: By combining international and domestic public data with actual survey data from the Taizhou region, this study analyzes the main risk factors for EC, especially the impact of dietary habits on the risk of EC. Method: A case-control study design was used to collect data from 222 patients with EC and 272 healthy controls in the Taizhou region. Information on demographic characteristics, lifestyle, dietary habits, and family history was collected through structured questionnaires. Chi-square tests, t-tests, and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to explore the association between various risk factors and the occurrence of EC. Results: Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the independent risk factors for EC includes: gender (OR=1.436, P=0.048), low education level (OR=4.365, P<0.001), alcohol (OR=2.015, P=0.003), early tea (OR=2.348, P<0.001), pickled foods (OR=2.056, P<0.001), grilled and fried foods (OR=2.175, P<0.001), and insufficient intake of fresh fruits and vegetables (OR=2.520, P<0.001). Conclusion: The occurrence of EC in the Taizhou region is closely related to various dietary habits and lifestyle factors. Strengthening health education and advocating a healthy diet and lifestyle are recommended to reduce the risk of EC.
