The change of heart of a female character in <Oh-hoo-kang-jeon> and its meaning

This paper examines the change of heart of a female character and its meaning in the Chinese novel <Oh-hoo-kang-jeon>, which is believed to have been created in the 19th century. Kim Hae-gap shows an impulsive side in order to achieve affection with the woman he likes, but Oh-hoo-kang, who appears as the other woman, is a widow who stubbornly refuses to accept Kim Hae-gap's wishes, so his affection is delayed. However, it was noted that what contributed to the achievement of Kim Hae-gap's affection was none other than the change of mind of a female character, and the aspect and moment of each change of mind, as well as the change of mind of Gye-wol, who claimed to be a helper, as well as the change of mind of Oh-hoo-kang and the narrator's attitude were analyzed. Accordingly, Gye-wol was able to confirm that the reason for his change of heart was the behavioral problems of Yeom-suk, his partner in the affair, and the fact that he did not consider her a true mate. Oh-hoo-kang wants a mate, but is bound by social gaze and a strong sense of passion within him. However, when Gye-wol resolved these concerns, I realized that he had a change of heart. The two women's change of mind was portrayed as a pursuit of love based on free will, and was romanticized in conjunction with the desire of the male protagonist, Kim Hae-gap. Lastly, the social, class, and gender factors that make change of mind possible were examined, and the meaning of a female character's change of mind was derived. Accordingly, it was understood that female characters were in a state of deprivation because they were kicked out of the house or lost their husbands, that their desires could change at any time due to their position as concubines, and that change of mind was relatively more permissive compared to men. The meaning of the female character's change of heart is internally the affirmation of humanity in that it defends the female character's desires, and externally, it is the male reader's ability to enjoy a concubine in the process of resolving the deficiencies exposed by the change of heart. The desire was confirmed.
