A Study on Opera Performance Buyers through Spatiotemporal Clustering Analysis: Focusing on the Case of Busan
This study analyzes the spatiotemporal clustering of opera performance buyers in Busan, Korea, based on their geographical distribution. Although there is significant demand for opera and interest in opera theaters in the region, research on this subject remains limited. In particular, geographical analysis studies based on actual data related to opera performances are rare. Therefore, this study utilized spatiotemporal permutation test statistics for its analysis. The results are as follows: First, Moran’s I value was used to identify the spatial clustering of performance buyers, and then the LISA index was applied to estimate spatial clustering from a local perspective, focusing on five districts: Busanjin-gu, Nam-gu, Haeundaegu, Yeonje-gu, and Suyeong-gu. Based on the analysis results, this study used the SaTScan program to identify a total of five spatiotemporal clusters of opera performance buyers in Busanjin-gu and Nam-gu, Busan. In Busan, the study estimates that opera performance buyers are clustered not only in space and time but also repeatedly in certain neighborhoods. Based on these estimates, this study proposes a policy for opera performances in Busan to focus on areas with observed clusters or to develop audiences in potential areas without observed clusters.
