Computational Efficient Accumulation Method for Moving Target Detection Using FDA-MIMO Radar

During moving target detection in Frequency Diverse Array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar, the speed and acceleration will result in range migration (RM), range curvature (RC), and Doppler frequency migration (DFM) of the received signal. Besides, due to the frequency offset across adjacent array elements, serious Doppler spread (DS) will occur between receiving channels, making it hard to be coherently accumulated and dramatically reducing the detection performance of the system. Aiming at this issue, firstly, slow time reversal transform (STRT) is used for received signal processing after match filtering, to eliminate the effects of acceleration. While suppressing the blind speed side lobe (BSSL) based on frequency offset, Radon-Fourier Transform (RFT) is adopted to remove RM and DS, thus estimating the speed of moving targets. Then, a speed filter and a series of acceleration filters are generated to compensate phase, allowing the target to accumulate coherently in rang-acceleration space. Simulation results reveal that the proposed method effectively resolves DS and mitigates effects caused by speed and acceleration, thereby improving detection performance while maintaining low computational burden.
