Floating Photovoltaic System: Design and Simulation
Floating photovoltaic systems (FPV) are gaining a lot of popularity in recent years and are now on the rise to slowly being installed on a large scale. They provide clean green energy while also maintaining and conserving water and land. The modern technology can help solve issues of energy, water and land crisis in many countries. This paper is an overview of a floating photovoltaic system, where it runs a study on its stability and design considering wind and buoyancy forces, as well as its applicability potential and feasibility in Jordan which is a water poor country with plenty of sunshine. A benchmark model of the FPV is analyzed towards generalizing it to different scales which will serve many purposes in Jordan including water, energy and environment. The results are promising and show good potential of using FPVs.
