A Miniaturized MRI Scanner Featuring a HighVoltage SOI ASIC for Non-Invasive Object Reconstruction and Flow Analysis
We reported a miniaturized 3-D magnetic resonance imaging (3-D-MRI) scanner for non-invasive object reconstruction and flow analysis. The scanner leverages a 0.52-T permanent magnet and a compact silicon chip with specialized electronics, occupying a mere $\mathbf{6} \mathbf{m m}^{2}$ for size and footprint miniaturization. The scanner weighs 21 kg and measures $23 \times 38$ $\times 17 \mathrm{~cm}^{3}$. It yields an image within a field-of-view of $10 \times 8 \times 8 \mathrm{~mm}^{3}$ with a $110 \times 117 \times 250-\mu \mathrm{m}^{3}$ image resolution in 0.17 minutes, providing rapid results for efficient scanning. Also, it can map the fluid’s bidirectional velocity (both magnitude and direction) and image the laminar flow, making it a portable, versatile, and affordable MRI platform for onsite and on-demand screening in various settings.
