Development and Implementation of a Comprehensive Smart Home Automation System Using Home Assistant and IoT Devices
This paper describes the development and implementation of a smart home automation system for residential buildings, utilizing the Home Assistant platform and various IoT devices. The system aims to improve energy efficiency and user convenience by automating household tasks and enabling remote control through mobile devices, tablets, and computers. It is centered around a Raspberry Pi, integrating Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Wi-Fi communication modules to ensure seamless device in teroperability. Testing demonstrated that the system reduces energy consumption by optimizing heating, lighting, and other electrical systems based on real-time data and user preferences, while also providing robust security features like device authentication and encrypted communication. However, the system's setup complexity requires advanced technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of automation engineering. Future work will focus on enhancing these aspects and incorporating machine learning for predictive automation based on user behavior.
