An IoT-Empowered Portable Monitoring System for EHG Analysis
Preterm birth poses significant health risks, and its early detection is essential for preventing adverse outcomes. This study introduces a novel portable and remote monitoring system tailored for the analysis of electrohysterography (EHG) signals in a home-based setting. The system comprises four main components: a sensing device, an edge device, an Internet of Things (IoT) platform, and an EHG extraction algorithm. The sensing device is designed to capture, process, and transmit 4channel EHG signals effectively. The edge device includes a USB dongle to facilitate receiving wireless data. The IoT platform enables real-time data transmission either locally or remotely, providing healthcare professionals with key insights into uterine activity for better decision-making. The EHG signal extraction algorithm is used to extract EHG signals in four directions for analysis. In conclusion, the proposed system facilitates remote monitoring, allowing for clear observation of both the frequency and direction of uterine contractions.
