Simulation Front Crash of SUV Car

In passive safety of vehicle in transport, it is important to study vehicle crash process. This paper shows a model that a SUV car collides in front of a wall, using finite element method and digital simulation. We analyze vehicle structure and crash response signals to determine crash impulse and passengers’ deformation. In the results, 2 parameters are determined including: maximum acceleration according to vehicle impulse index (VPI) and passengers’ deformation according to force on passengers index (OLC). The comparison of these parameters with ISO 12353-3 in different crash scenarios helps to evaluate the benefit of the simulation. It can also be used for other purposes of safety research.
