Bilateral Cataract after Electric Shock Injury

This case report presents a rare instance of bilateral cataracts in a 14-year-old boy following a high-voltage electric shock injury. The patient experienced a high-voltage electric shock, leading to a gradual decline in vision over 2 years. On examination, both the eyes exhibited subcapsular cataracts, requiring surgical intervention. The patient underwent successful phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation, resulting in significant visual improvement. This case underscores the importance of screening for ocular complications postelectric shock and demonstrates that with prompt surgical care, patients can achieve favorable visual outcomes despite the rarity and severity of electrical cataracts.
