Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk’teki Sosyal Belleğin Türkiye Türkçesi ve Ağızlarına Yansıması

Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk (DLT), in addition to being the first dictionary of Turkish, has a rich vocabulary in terms of conceptual diversity. The fact that Kâşgarlı Mahmud obtained the language material through field research, that he comparatively processed the language material of only Karakhanid Turkish and according to his own statement 20 different Turkish tribes in his work, and that the headings were reinforced with examples such as idioms, proverbs, poems, etc., reveals the value of DLT. The numerical ratio of cultural elements is quite high in the work, which includes the vocabulary of the Turkish nation living in the 11th century. It has been predicted that among the cultural elements, the ones that are most likely to have survived from the past to the present may be traditions and rituals. With this foresight, the traditions and rituals in the work were identified and it was determined which of them -with phonetic and semantic changes- were used in Old Anatolian Turkish and Turkey Turkish and dialects’. The study includes 45 vocabulary elements evaluated under 11 headings, including birth, marriage, fortune telling and magic, illness and treatment, gift, lot, inheritance, hospitality, death, feast, entertainment and others. The fact that the elements that were identified, whose etymologies were given, and which were phonetically and semantically analyzed, were encountered mostly in the Derleme Sözlüğü (DS) is proof that the richness of Turkey Turkish dialects still keeps the language products of the 11th century and before alive, and that DLT will continue to live.
