Entelechy in Psychoanalytic Process

The article demonstrates the influence of philosophy on the formation of psychoanalysis and shows how philosophical concepts have enriched psychoanalytic technique. The role of Aristotle's philosophy in the development of fundamental psychoanalytic concepts by S. Freud is analyzed. The limitations of understanding psychoanalysis entirely as an Aristotelian discipline based on a naturalistic paradigm are considered. To substantiate the importance of intuitive knowledge in the analytical process, the concept of entelechy, an unconscious drive for self-formation of the subject, is introduced. The phenomenon of entelechy is considered in the context of Bionian psychoanalysis. The importance of realizing the philosophical worldview of a practicing psychologist is substantiated. Some concepts of Russian philosophy of the 19th and early 20th centuries are proposed as a possible basis for expanding psychoanalytic listening. Their relevance is demonstrated in the analogy between Bionʼs psychoanalytic ideas and the provisions of the philosophy of intuitivism.
