Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the awareness of medical institution workers on the recently implemented Electronic Medical Record (EMR) certification system. The purpose of the study is to seek short- and long-term development of the EMR certification system and to suggest a direction to secure interoperability and improve quality of medical information by verifying national standards and suitability for the function of the electronic medical record system. Methods: This study was conducted on doctors, nurses, medical technicians, health care information managers, and administrative workers who use the electronic medical record system of medical institutions that have been certified by the Electronic Medical Record System Certification Institute among medical institutions using EMR systems. Results: As for general characteristics, among the study participants, women showed a higher participation rate than men, and there were many study participants in their 20s. In occupations, nurses showed high participation rates. Patient information management, prescription information management, and clinical information management items that correspond to system functional items all showed significant results. Conclusions: Since EMR certification is essential for evaluating the quality of medical care aimed at improving patient safety and quality of medical care, financial support from relevant government agencies is essential, and medical institution officials and health care information system management developers need to pay attention so that the EMR certification system can be reborn as a high-quality system that can have more influence on patients, communities, and public health in the future.
