LEGITIMACY AS THE BASIS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH LEGAL VALUES AND IDEALS

This article reveals the category of legitimacy as the basis of legal values and ideals in relation to such categories as legality, expediency, normativity, discipline. The correlation of the categories of «legitimacy» and «legality», «legal values» and «legality» is established. The authors have made an attempt to determine the criteria of legality in accordance with its role and importance in the life of society, multitasking and historical variability of value orientations.
