Digital infrastructure for monitoring and predictive maintenance of CMMs (Coordinate measuring machines)
For many technical products, a digital infrastructure that provides information about the product is nowadays available. This is general information such as product specifications or operating instructions that are often freely available. In addition, individual digital information about a purchased product is becoming increasingly important and accompanies the entire product life cycle in the form of a so-called digital shadow. Storing and managing digital shadow data require appropriate infrastructure. Such a digital infrastructure can also increase the efficiency of measuring machines in industrial production. Additional requirements for this infrastructure arise from the connection to the user's digital systems. That makes the measuring device an integral part of the digital information flow in the so-called digital production. A dedicated digital infrastructure for coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) applied from the manufacture of the machine to its use and its interfaces to the user's digital systems through the standard OPC UA and other standards are presented in this article.
