ELENA WHISHAW, UNA ESCRITORA INGLESA EN DEFENSA DE LA MUJER ESPAÑOLA
This article proposes an approach to the everyday life of Spanish women at the beginning of the 20th century through the testimony of the English writer Elena Whishaw. Based on a study of her travel book My Spanish Year (1914), it shows some situations in which the author depicts Spanish women subjected to the authority of male figures or obliged to respect tradition. Elena Whishaw not only describes the results of her observations, but also, on occasions, raises her voice in favour of Spanish women and denounces their inferior position in relation to men.
