ÍNDICE DA QUALIDADE DA ÁGUA NO IGARAPÉ-AÇU (SÃO BRAZ) NO MUNICÍPIO DE SANTARÉM, PARÁ, AMAZÔNIA
The Water Quality Index (WQI) is a methodology that has been used to evaluate the quality standard of water resources. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate the AQI of a peri-urban stream (Igarapé-Açu) based on its physical-chemical and microbiological characteristics in a perimeter within the São Braz community within the municipal limit of Santarém-PA, the results were evaluated with based on Resolution of the National Environmental Council (CONAMA) No. 357/2005. Data collection was carried out at six sampling points, where some parameters were obtained in situ and others were carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry applied to Toxicology, Environmental Sanitation and Water Resources, Universidade Federal do Oeste do Pará (UFOPA). The IQA results obtained for the six points were: P1=64.5; P2=57.3; P3=55.6; P4=51.7; P5=59 and P6=60.3, based on the classification of the São Paulo State Environmental Company (CETESB), the points were classified as Good, remaining green. It is also important to highlight the importance of carrying out these studies on water resources in the Amazon, as it has the highest percentagem of fresh water in the world, and this inspection should be a concern for governments.
