El disparate de la antigua lírica al impreso popular: fórmulas y personajes animales
This article will discuss a selection of nonsense broadsheets published by Antonio Vanegas Arroyo (1880-1927) and Eduardo Guerrero (1900-1959) and compare them with some examples of old Spanish popular lyric poetry and the traditional songs of the 20th century. The emphasis will be placed on the satirical and burlesque aspects of broadsheets, recurring formulaic resources, and the importance of using lists to create a sense of coherence in the absurd, especially when it comes to animal characters. All of this is done in order to draw a line in «traditional poetry» that allows the songs to be linked from old lyrics to popular Mexican printed literature of the 20th century.
