Lyra mínima y educación sentimental en los folletos populares íbero-americanos
This paper proposes the analysis of a selection of popular pamphlets published in Spain and America in the 19th and 20th centuries, referring to the representation of feelings and love relationships. The starting point is an article in which I attempted a comparison of the pamphlets of the Imprenta Vanegas Arroyo with the Robert Lehmann-Nitsche Creole Library, and a recent work in which I extended the comparisons to a collection of Spanish sheets gathered at the University of Geneva. The corpus of analysis was constituted with sheets from Spain, Mexico and Argentina that include lyrical and lyrical-narrative compositions, aimed at young women and men, which can be analyzed as norms of sentimental education. The purpose is to introduce us to the particular treatment of these themes in the manifestations of popular printed literature. A visit through the poems and also through the explicitly stated rules of socialization allows us to study the process of construction of the subjectivities of modern culture in the Ibero-American sphere and enables comparisons between materials printed and consumed in different cultural contexts.
