Applying Enterprise Architecture to Analysis and Optimization of Production Control

The classic approach to production control optimization usually comes down to building optimization and decision-making models based on data obtained directly from the production system from the so-called “technological layer”. Most often, economic factors that occur mainly at the level of the so-called „business layer”, which have a significant impact on the processes operating in the company, including the production process itself. In the process of building detailed production optimization models, it is necessary to take into account various variable factors also occurring at the „business layer” level, i.e. prices of services, prices of raw materials, contractual penalties, which may affect the directional decision in the production process, i.e. Should all orders be completed in your own production system? Will it be cheaper to outsource some orders/parts of orders? Proposing a different approach to optimizing the production process than before, using data from both the technological and business layers, may facilitate: identifying areas intended for optimization/automation of production processes, building detailed mathematical models for the purpose of optimizing/automating production processes and adapting information flow between individual layers (technological/business) operating at the enterprise level. The article presents the use of enterprise architecture to analyze the process of controlling the production of rolling bearings in a real factory and to build a mathematical model for optimization and decision support in this process.
