The article presents the methods of influence used in centers for former convicts. Centres are facilities to which a person leaving prison can go voluntarily and use free or low-paid accommodation, support in finding a job, reconnecting with his family, etc. Qualitative case studies covered four centres in Warsaw, Zabrze, Toruń and Krakow. The research shows the functioning of the institutions described including a list of specific methods that are used to support the rehabilitation process. The article describes the following methods: individual work with the program, individual diagnostic work, group work “community”, constructive spending of free time, self-creation as an employee and social roles. The results of this research can be used for practical purposes and for further research in a field that still leaves a lot of unexplored space.
