New trazodone derivatives: synthesis, molecular docking and their biological activity study as anticancer, antibacterial, antimicrobial agents

In this work, a series of trazodone derivatives were synthesized via the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction and evaluated in vitro as antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer agents.Structures of molecules targeted were determined by FT-IR, 1 H, 13 C NMR spectra. The products have been investigated in vitro against both cell lines MCF-7 (cancer cells) and MCF-10a (normal cells), and also for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. The results of the DPPH investigation revealed encouraging antioxidant activity with good inhibition percentages for some of the study compounds compared to that of standard ascorbic acid. The cytotoxicity assay revealed encouraging results for some of these targeted derivatives against the cell lines MCF-7 with good IC 50 values compared to the Sorafenib drug.Molecular docking study of the target compounds confirmed the results of the cytotoxicity test.In addition, antimicrobial results showed good antimicrobial activity for some of these derivatives.
