On the role of the dietetic community and its staffing in the formation of public health.
The global burden of malnutrition negatively affects the process of socio-economic development of countries, the health of their population, causing serious long-term consequences for an individual, his family, society and countries as a whole. Problems associated with malnutrition and eating disorders have remained relevant for public health systems for many years and require urgent solutions. There is a shortage of services in the field of dietetics throughout the world, with a simultaneous increase in the need for qualified dietitians, whose activities are regulated by the state. According to WHO, the indicator of the nutrition professionals density reflects the ability of a country to effectively develop and implement policies and programs in the field of nutrition. The indicator of the number of trained nutritionists per 100,000 population is included as an indicator of the political environment and capacity in the core set of indicators of the Global Nutrition Monitoring System. This indicator is defined as the number of trained nutritionists per 100,000 population of the country in a given year. According to the Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated November 15, 2012 No. 920n «On approval of the Procedure for providing medical care to the population in the profile of «dietetics», to provide outpatient medical care to the population at a rate of 1 dietitian per 27,000 people, our country requires 5,400 dietitians. The functioning of the system of registered dietitians, the creation of a national accreditation system, as well as the organization of training and continuous professional development throughout a career in accordance with international standards are a challenge of our time and a necessary condition for the well-being and health of the population, the preservation of labor and reproductive potential, as well as the security of each country.
