Role and importance of day hospital in the primary health care system.
The implementation of national projects and programs in the healthcare sector is aimed at increasing life expectancy and reducing mortality rates. Primary health care plays a critical role in achieving these goals, which covers a wide range of activities, including prevention, follow-up, treatment of various diseases and rehabilitation. A special place in the primary health care system is occupied by the day hospital, which is an intermediate link between outpatient services and inpatient treatment. Despite the significant number of patients receiving treatment in 24-hour hospitals, many of them could be effectively treated in a day hospital. This emphasizes the importance of optimizing the use of day hospitals in the primary health care structure. The purpose of this study is to substantiate the role and significance of a day hospital in the primary health care system. The main advantage of a day hospital over 24-hour hospitals is the possibility of earlier diagnosis of diseases and prompt initiation of treatment, which contributes to a rapid improvement in the health status of patients. Treatment in a day hospital is also characterized by high social and economic efficiency, as it allows optimizing the use of medical resources and reducing treatment costs, while maintaining high quality of medical care.
