AbbVie to buy Roche spinout

AbbVie is slated to buy the oral peptide developer Nimble Therapeutics for $200 million and a potential milestone payment. Nimble was spun out from Roche in 2019 after researchers there developed massive parallel synthesis of peptides, including macrocyclic peptidomimetics that could be developed as therapeutics. Nimble is now working on oral peptides that seek to block the enzyme C5 to treat generalized myasthenia gravis, inhibit the cytokine receptor IL-23R to treat psoriasis, and block the cytokine TL1A to treat inflammatory bowel disease.
