Professional Camera VS. Smartphone Camera: A Comparison Of Image Quality In A Low-Budget Production Of The Short Film "Pale Moon"

The quality of images in film is typically associated with the use of professional cameras and equipment, which can be cost-prohibitive. This study, however, aims to contribute to the field of low-budget filmmaking by comparing a professional camera with a smartphone camera. We examine the extent of the resulting impact and the image quality of a short film entitled "Pale Moon." This research also challenges the assumption that a professional camera or equipment always delivers the best results. Focusing on the pre-production stage, which involves the selection of tools and cameras, and the production stage, which is the execution stage, we demonstrate that the low-budget filmmaking method can still maintain the visual richness of a film. Furthermore, this method can also reduce a film's budget, increasing its efficiency. Therefore, this film and method can be a significant reference for filmmakers or film students, providing them with valuable insights into creating high-quality films on a minimal budget.
