From Automation to Optimization: Boosting Employee Efficiency and Engagement for Contemporary Human Resource Management

With the advancement of technology, the usage of artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact is evident across different business verticals. Human Resource Management is one of them. Implementation of AI is across industries in multiple capacities for its efficacy and productivity. In this study, authors attempt to identify the impact of AI across HRM through automated and optimised processes, such as automated resume screening, customised training and development programmes based on employee learning history, etc., that lead to personalised employee development. All this can be achieved only with the help of AI intervention. Due to the data-driven decision-making approach, HR managers can make informed decisions that enhance employee efficiency and productivity. By leveraging the power of AI and IoT across HRM functions, organisations can enhance their employee performance (EP) and employee engagement (EE), and ultimately, this will result in enhanced overall efficiency for the organisation. The authors also proposed a model that can be adopted across the HR department to enhance EP and EE. To conduct this study, the authors have selected 29 HR professionals from Bengaluru, India. Responses were obtained through a semi-structured interview method; samples were collected by purposive sampling method. Factors were analysed further using thematic analysis, and a model was proposed that can be adopted across industry and academia to enhance EE and EP.
