Intelligent Plant Monitoring and Care System
Domotics, as a complex field with many possible applications, stimulates the creativity of large teams of professionals worldwide. Every day new applications and systems are being created in home automation area, giving people more control over their smart homes and providing them with a detailed status about appliances' activity. Aligning to this trend, this article describes the realisation of a modern complex electronic system that, using an internet connection, allows houseplant owners to care for and monitor their flowers when they are out of their home for several days. It is demonstrated that, using an regular Arduino board connected to a few low-cost peripherals and creating a framework employing some of the most common programming languages, a stable and easy-to-use system in domotics domain has been created. The details on the programming flow, the components used and the code provided in this paper can help any electronics enthusiast to build its own electronic system for plant care or similar activities.
