Challenges and Solutions in Modern DC Grids Part 2: Control and Converters
The control in the DC grid is done via power electronics converters. The bidirectional powerflow is dependent on the level of the DC grid voltage and is controlled by the same converters that also have to control the voltage level in the DC grid. The two main power converters, the Interlink and the Grid Manager are described, as well as their internal control methods. The importance of the uncontrolled DC grid in industry is discussed and demonstrated with a practical implementation.
