Contactless Methods for Monitoring Vital Parameters: Systematic Literature Review
The swift progress of contactless technology has yielded substantial benefits for the healthcare industry, namely in non-invasive vital sign monitoring. The COVID-19 pandemic made these developments even more significant because remote and contactless patient care is important for lowering infection risks without sacrificing the provision of basic healthcare services. Several contactless techniques for monitoring vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, and body temperature are examined in this systematic literature review (SLR), including radar, infrared thermography, camera-based systems, and photoplethysmography (PPG). This study evaluates the effectiveness and dependability of these technologies and considers how they could improve healthcare systems in the future. It does this by examining sixteen important research articles published between 2021 and 2024. In a post-pandemic era, the findings offer important insights into how contactless monitoring systems may develop further, becoming more precise, easily accessible, and effective, eventually changing how healthcare is delivered and enhancing patient outcomes.
