Programmable Active Load for Testing DC-DC Converters

This paper presents a low-cost solution for the realization of a programmable active load used for testing DC-DC converters with different load profiles. Current control is realized by driving a MOSFET transistor in the active area through an analog control loop. Current value setting and adjustment is realized under the control of an Arduino module that also provides the integration of the active load into a test stand that can execute test sequences described in Python.

Abstract

This paper presents a low-cost solution for the realization of a programmable active load used for testing DC-DC converters with different load profiles. Current control is realized by driving a MOSFET transistor in the active area through an analog control loop. Current value setting and adjustment is realized under the control of an Arduino module that also provides the integration of the active load into a test stand that can execute test sequences described in Python.
