Broadband high coupling efficiency edge coupler with low polarization-dependence on the silicon-nitride platform

We demonstrate an ultra-broadband double-tip edge coupler with high coupling efficiencies for both TE and TM polarizations. Experimentally, the coupling efficiency of our coupler to a single-mode fiber remains above 90% from 1450 to 1640nm, with the highest coupling efficiency of 97.3% at 1586nm.
