Complexity of Anderson localized modes in disordered nanophotonic structures

We report a direct experimental, interferometric measurement of the complexity of eigenmodes in open, twodimensional Anderson localizing, disordered photonic crystals. Measured phase distributions are in excellent agreement with theory. A hitherto-unknown relation between the inverse participation ratio and average complexity is uncovered.

Abstract

We report a direct experimental, interferometric measurement of the complexity of eigenmodes in open, twodimensional Anderson localizing, disordered photonic crystals. Measured phase distributions are in excellent agreement with theory. A hitherto-unknown relation between the inverse participation ratio and average complexity is uncovered.
