Ultrahigh-Resolution Optical Coherence Tomography with a Blue-Diode-Pumped Ti:sapphire Laser
We present our progress in the development of a low-cost ultra-high resolution optical coherence tomography system. Our spectral domain OCT system is using a broadband blue-diode pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser and an axicon lens to achieve high axial and lateral resolutions. We demonstrate a lateral resolution of ~3 µm and an axial resolution of < 8 µm in air, with steps towards ~3 µm axial resolution. We present the first biomedical images using this system.
