Optimizing Security in OBS: Implementation and Evaluation of Modified SHA-160 Algorithm
OBS is a technology with the potential to meet the increasing network demands. However, due to its dynamic nature, ensuring security is still a challenge. The objective of the proposed work is to tackle the vulnerabilities in OBS networks by identifying security risks and recommending improved security measures. Moreover, the proposed work introduces a methodology for a fast SHA-160 authentication algorithm. The proposed algorithm is put into effect on a COTS FPGA utilizing the Xilinx ISE 14.6 platform and a VIRTEX 7 synthesis model. The results indicate that the proposed SHA-1 design offers a better avalanche rate and faster performance compared to conventional algorithms. In conclusion, this study provides a promising solution for addressing security concerns in OBS networks.
