Athermal Tantala Mach–Zehnder Interferometer

We demonstrate an athermal Ta2O5 MZI with asymmetric arm widths for thermorefractive cancellation. The temperature-dependent wavelength shift is only 1.98 pm/K around 1550 nm over a 30°C temperature range, showing great potential for high-throughput optical communication and frequency discrimination applications.

Abstract

We demonstrate an athermal Ta2O5 MZI with asymmetric arm widths for thermorefractive cancellation. The temperature-dependent wavelength shift is only 1.98 pm/K around 1550 nm over a 30°C temperature range, showing great potential for high-throughput optical communication and frequency discrimination applications.
