Energy Storage System Capacity Optimization Configuration using Trigonometric Function based Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm
An effective energy storage system in micro grid is optimized for enhancing the reasonable distribution of power and enhance the service life of the storage system. However, the existing optimization algorithms used for optimizing the energy storage system capacity face difficulties due to dynamic fluctuation and other intermittent characteristics of renewable resources. To overcome this problem, a Trigonometric function-based Particle Swarm Optimization (TRIG-PSO) algorithm for energy storage system capacity optimization configuration in micro grid. The velocity of the particle is modified using trigonometric functions, that controls the acceleration and deceleration of particles in PSO algorithm. This modulation reduces the extreme fluctuations in movement of particle, to provide stable convergence process. Initially, the power is generated from wind, photovoltaic and hydrogen resources, based on this an energy storage system is designed with the fuel cell and electrolytic cell. After that, the objective functions like cost and storage system lifetime are determined with constrains to optimize the energy storage system capacity. The experimental results show that proposed TRIG-PSO model achieved better results when compared to existing methods such as Modified PSO (MPSO).
