Temperature-Dependent Optical Properties of MgO, MgAl2O4, and 6H-SiC from NIR to UV
Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) systems, which convert heat to electricity, rely heavily on the optical properties of their components, such as emitters and absorbers. These properties are temperature-dependent, influencing the efficiency of TPV systems. This study examines the temperature-dependent optical properties of MgO, MgAl2O4, and 6H-SiC using spectroscopic ellipsometry within the 25.0 to 600.0°C temperature range and wavelengths from 240 to 2500 nm. The results show minimal changes in refractive indices and a significant increase in the extinction coefficient for 6H-SiC, while MgO and MgAl2O4 exhibit zero extinction coefficients across all temperatures.
