Elevating Quantum Key Distribution: Resilience to Noise and Coexistence with Classical Signals through High-Dimensional States

We compare the resilience of a high-dimensional QKD protocol to noise resulting from classical communications coexisting in the same fiber channel. We find that a 4D protocol makes QKD possible with classical noise levels that are 5 dB higher compared to a 2D protocol.

Abstract

We compare the resilience of a high-dimensional QKD protocol to noise resulting from classical communications coexisting in the same fiber channel. We find that a 4D protocol makes QKD possible with classical noise levels that are 5 dB higher compared to a 2D protocol.
