Passive 2D optical beam scanner: trade-off between angular resolution and sidelobe suppression

We demonstrate 2D beam steering based on a dispersive optical phased array with 16 antennas fed by an unbalanced splitter tree architecture. We achieve a combination of high sidelobe suppression ratio (up to ≈−8 dB) and vertical angular resolution (0.288°).

Abstract

We demonstrate 2D beam steering based on a dispersive optical phased array with 16 antennas fed by an unbalanced splitter tree architecture. We achieve a combination of high sidelobe suppression ratio (up to ≈−8 dB) and vertical angular resolution (0.288°).
