Parametric Assessment of Optical ISL Capacity in Large LEO Constellations

We investigate the impact of satellite arrangements on the constrained capacity of first-neighbor interorbital optical links in low-Earth orbit constellations. Simulation results indicate that capacity is more sensitive to inclination and number of planes than altitude, phase factor, and satellites per plane.

Abstract

We investigate the impact of satellite arrangements on the constrained capacity of first-neighbor interorbital optical links in low-Earth orbit constellations. Simulation results indicate that capacity is more sensitive to inclination and number of planes than altitude, phase factor, and satellites per plane.
