Gain Compression in Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers induced by a Holding Beam

In the presence of a holding beam, distortions in the amplified signal caused by gain fluctuations are minimized, resulting in reduction of signal gain. We introduce a novel heuristic model for SOA that incorporates this experimentally measurable gain compression and validate the same with experiments.

Abstract

In the presence of a holding beam, distortions in the amplified signal caused by gain fluctuations are minimized, resulting in reduction of signal gain. We introduce a novel heuristic model for SOA that incorporates this experimentally measurable gain compression and validate the same with experiments.
