Short Wavelength ECLs for Biomedical and Quantum Applications

We report on short-wavelength external cavity lasers obtained from the hybrid integration of III-V gain chips with silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits, with alignment tolerances compatible with flip-chip integration. This is achieved with a combination of suitable etch stop layers and multi-mode edge couplers.

Abstract

We report on short-wavelength external cavity lasers obtained from the hybrid integration of III-V gain chips with silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits, with alignment tolerances compatible with flip-chip integration. This is achieved with a combination of suitable etch stop layers and multi-mode edge couplers.
