Experimental Characterization of SDM Optical Fibers

Modal dispersion characterization of optical fibers for space division multiplexing is reviewed. Experimental results collected on a field deployed multicore fiber cable are presented and compared with the theoretical model. Moreover, a novel reflective technique for quasi-distributed measurement is discussed.

Abstract

Modal dispersion characterization of optical fibers for space division multiplexing is reviewed. Experimental results collected on a field deployed multicore fiber cable are presented and compared with the theoretical model. Moreover, a novel reflective technique for quasi-distributed measurement is discussed.
