Kronecker Product-based Modeling of Inter-Core Cross-talk & Polarization Mixing in 2-core Fiber and Low Complexity Mitigation
In this paper, we propose a new matrix model to characterize the polarization mixing and inter-core cross-talk using the Kronecker product. In a 2-core fiber, we verify that the polarization mixing in each core is identical and, thus, can be modeled using two 2×2 matrices and the Kronecker product. We demonstrate a low complexity compensation with 50% less complexity than traditional MIMO algorithms.
