Performance Evaluation of a Gain-Switched Laser Diode for Quantum Random Number Generation

We evaluate a gain-switched laser diode with an unbalanced interferometer for quantum random number generation, achieving a minimum entropy of 4.4-bits and a generation rate of up to 44 Gbps. All 30 evaluated bitstreams passed NIST tests.

Abstract

We evaluate a gain-switched laser diode with an unbalanced interferometer for quantum random number generation, achieving a minimum entropy of 4.4-bits and a generation rate of up to 44 Gbps. All 30 evaluated bitstreams passed NIST tests.
