Holographic fabrication of reconfigurable diffractive elements

Instead of the multi-step processes of standard lithography, thin films of amorphous azobenzene-containing polymers enable direct fabrication of diffractive optical elements in a single irradiation step with structured light. Using this approach, we demonstrate reprogrammable and ready-to-use azopolymer diffractive gratings, lenses, and holographic projectors.

Abstract

Instead of the multi-step processes of standard lithography, thin films of amorphous azobenzene-containing polymers enable direct fabrication of diffractive optical elements in a single irradiation step with structured light. Using this approach, we demonstrate reprogrammable and ready-to-use azopolymer diffractive gratings, lenses, and holographic projectors.
