BER Performance Analysis of OFDM for 5G Networks
With the goals of boosting system capacity, achieving low latency, enhancing user throughput, and supporting “Internet of things” services, fifth generation(5G) mobile systems have been implemented globally. The standards group for Third- Generation-Partnership-Project (3GPP) has authorized Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for 5G mobile technologies which is a well-known method that exhibits resilience against frequency-selective fading channels. There are numerous wired and wireless communication systems that make extensive use of this technology. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and inverse Fourier transform (IFFT) operations are utilized in OFDM systems for modulation and demodulation, with the varying magnitude of these operations depending on the application. Specific to 5G, an 1024-point FFT and FFT configured OFDM has been modelled using MATLAB Simulink and its functionally verified for BER parameter for BPSK, QPSK and QAM. A Quantitative analysis has been carried out for BPSK, QPSK and QAM with 0.4, 0.7 and 0.9.
