Microring Resonator based Photonic Circuits as Limited Precision Differential Equation Solvers

We propose programmable photonic integrated circuits based on microring resonator crossbar arrays, which implement the Jacobi method as an iterative differential equation solver. We investigate the precision of the scalar multiplication unit experimentally, simulate the matrix multiplication numerically, and discuss methods to improve the precision.

Abstract

We propose programmable photonic integrated circuits based on microring resonator crossbar arrays, which implement the Jacobi method as an iterative differential equation solver. We investigate the precision of the scalar multiplication unit experimentally, simulate the matrix multiplication numerically, and discuss methods to improve the precision.
