EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF COMMUNICATION CHANNELS FOR TRANSMITTING DISPATCH INFORMATION AS PART OF A RIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM

The article presents the results of experimental studies of using communication channels based on an automatic iden-tification system (AIS) for exchanging additional amount of information between vessels and coastal points. The au-thors conduct the experiment using the developed components of river information systems (RIS), namely the dis-patcher and ship communication terminals that apply AIS communication channels to transmit information. The paper shows that on inland waterways (IWW) it is advisable to build automated complexes for exchanging information be-tween vessels and coastal points based on AIS. Using AIS for exchanging information in RIS will not only improve the efficiency and safety of navigation, but also reduce the cost of the system operation due to the use of the existing in-frastructure.
